Internship Program 2017-2018

The Palouse Discovery Science Center is currently offering unpaid internship opportunities

An internship with the Palouse Discovery Science Center will help you gain work experience in a fun and professional setting. Our internships offer opportunities to gain youth education experience in physics, engineering, computer science, environmental science, astronomy, and more.

Interns will organize and conduct the PDSC’s lessons for elementary school children. Duties will include, but not be limited to, planning, setup, clean-up and leading activities with children in an indoor/outdoor education environment. In addition to providing comprehensive science lessons developed by experienced educators, interns will have the opportunity to learn from these educators to create their own hands-on lesson(s) and lead it under the advisement of PDSC staff.

Internships at the PDSC fall into one of three categories:

  • Daily Lesson Educator

  • Field Trip Educator

  • Summer Camp Educator

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • At least one year of college-level course work. Courses could include education, recreation, interpretation, environmental science, biology, physical science or other related field.

The PDSC can work with a variety of internship hour requirements, however a minimum hourly requirement is designated for each position (see downloadable packet for details).

Please submit an application and a cover letter (resume optional) following the instructions in the Internship Packet below.
